Truss Rod Nut - Is this right?

My red Wunkay, to which I am becoming more and more fond, has this for a truss rod nut.
Sticks out a bit doesn't it? It works perfectly, but has someone replaced it with one too long?

Not so much a bullet truss rod as a missile!
Is there a club for Magnum truss rod nuts? (As in nuts who are interested in truss rods!)
