A Tale of Stiction and Woe

Postby Ken Baker » Tue Sep 13, 2022 11:34 am

My trackball, a Logi Ergo, has an issue with static friction. So I remove the ball and clean the ball, rollers, and laser eye. Helps for a while. Then I did all that and waxed the ball, which was even better but only as long as it lasted.

Today I did all that and lubricated the ball with genuine A-1 Nose Grease. Works like a champ. Turns out the ball is supposed to use skin oils.

So...

If you ever see me rolling my ball around on my nose, you know why.

Weird followup:

Since starting this thread on 9/13/22, I have not had to reload my trackball with nose grease. Still working like a champ.

That is all.
