1981 Gibson Victory Artist - restoration

You mean there are other basses? :D This is where those discussions go.

No sales or advertisements, no matter how well veiled, are permitted - not even a pointer elsewhere.

A previous owner thought it would be a great idea to install a battery cut switch, right where your body can press it. It cuts off the battery and produces a nice thump from the amp.

Needless to say I've removed the switch but I'll have to make a new battery cover, the old one has a big hole in it.

That's why I recessed the switches I put in the back ;-)

Quick update: My friend who can spray paint without leaving runs (actually that is really downplaying it, he does a truly excellent job) has my Victory and the spraying has commenced:

I'm getting excited already, and that's only the primer :)

It's a 1966 Hagstrom H-IIB which is also in the process of being restored. It's a little further down the line, the neck is done, the electrics are done and it is currently operational in a donor body.

This is the state it was in when I got asked to take a look at it:

This is how it is now in the donor body:

It will end up being white, as per this example:

Small update - while Rich has been working his magic with lacquer I made a replacement battery cover to replace the one with the hole in it.

The spraying continues, and I took the loaded pickguard round to Rich's for a test fit:

Just buffing left to do. Can't wait to get the final result.
