I have wanted one of these since they came out all those years ago. Just plain fun to play. It does need an amp for any serious volume, but the metal wound strings (LaBellas, I think) project pretty well acoustically.
Saw one in a store - on sale even - but the store stripped out the gigbag that it came with from the factory and wanted to charge me for some crappy POS bag. I passed and purchased from Adorama. It came with a crappy gigbag, but at least I didn't have to pay extra. Got the strap and case, both seen here in Goat Rock Gray, direct from Kala. The Martin Headstock Tie came from GC Brea.
The preamp seems fairly typical for what it is; not high end, but it gets the job done. The tuner is fairly accurate. Surprise - takes a pair of CR2032 batteries. Output jack gives a nice positive feel when plugging in.
Coming from a regular electric bass with its 34" scale to this little guy with its 21.5" scale makes for finger tangling. But it's all good and I'm just enjoying the hell out of it.
