I bought one of the Epi long-scale SG type basses. I figured the first thing I'd need to do is change pups. But no way in hell! That hb sounds incredible as does the mini hb. I had bought it for a right handed girlfriend and had to save it from hock. I'm a lefty and put a lefty nut on it, and I'm proud to place it among my Ric 4001, my Fender P and J, and Hofner. It sounds to me very much like the Gibson basses of the 70s and their unmistakable thud.
A couple of weeks ago, I also bought an Epiphone Casino. Again, no need for a pickup change.
Epiphone is doing better to my ears. I've owned a few Epi guitars over the years and ALWAYS had to change the pups.
