Got an interesting one for ya.

You mean there are other basses? :D This is where those discussions go.

Not that I would ever want to discourage putting MFDs in something, but that looks SWEEEEEEET without anything on the body.....

It really does. Only problem is that the piezo sound isn't as clean as magnetics could give you, even with the bass EQ dropped as low as it would go.

Maybe next time I try this I do the pickup routing myself and use a very fine bit, and try pulling the cap off the rest of the body, and use that as a pickup cover or something. That would be an interesting way to do it.

Hmmm.....

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Shit kicker....

That is, by far, the funniest line ever uttered in a movie.

I am now watching this thread, not just for the build progress but also the quotes from one of my favorite movies from Mel Brooks. :D

That workbench looks awful familiar...is this the one in the garage of Chez Baker, where a certain forum admin installed the split-coil MFD pickup in my Squier P many, many moons ago?

New update (finally)!

Got the body back from the luthier today, and the pickup cavities are done. Now I get to figure out where I want the controls to go. It's a sizable cavity, but there are still 5 (maybe 4) knobs and 3 mini-toggles to place.

Now, I know you guys have been waiting with bated breath about this build, but it's at the stage where everything takes foreeeeeeeverrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Went down to the shop where I'm having it finished to take a look, they've got the undercoat on it and it really makes the grain pop. As for the final finish, I'll let that stay a secret for now.

As per the norm, click to embiggen.
