L2000 (SN: B021265) Estimated 1991 - 1995. The finish is solid around edges but can see woodgrain through paint on body (front & back)
Brought this new prior to 1997 sometime in New Zealand.
Anyone with specific knowledge on the era please feel free to pipe up

This is my '83 L2K. Love this bass!! It's my 3rd G&L. In the 90s I played an L2K and an L2500. The neck profile on this one is exactly like my '78 Stingray.. which was probably built on the same machines. I've owned the Stingray since new, and I've owned this L2K for about 5 years.

My first G&L purchased mid-90s.
Upgraded with the newer plated brass saddles.
The single coils are bright sounding.
Tamed with Labella FM flats.
Perfect for Ampeg B-15.
BTW, The 'Radio" knobs and zinc-cast bridge saddles are saved.

My My nameis Mike, I live in South Carolina and my Tribute M-2000 GTS just arrived today!!!! It looks and plays great after a quick play thru, I will let it aclimate to his new home for a day or two and give the set up a good look, but any tweaks will be minor if any. The finish is great. I love the grain on the top. It is lighter than I expected, and the neck feels great!!! Iwill post a little review and proper introduction in the next few days after I have more of a chance play it.

Hello everybody,

thanks for accepting me in this forum.

I have recently acquired an amazing G&L L2000 Tribute made in Indonesia in 2007.

I love how playable it is and I really like the amount of different tones you can dial in just playing with the toggles without touching the eq. By the way I have a minor annoyance regarding the toggles but I'll keep it for a separate thread in the technicalities section.

Here you can find a couple of the pictures.

Luigi

[attachment=0]New L-2K.jpg Picked this up on clearance at GC for under $1000. Must've been sitting in their inventory for a while. I truly love the tone. I owned an L-2K from about 1996 - 2015. This one has the K-spec mod which I am really digging. I would love to add a 3-band pre-amp with boost/cut. Any one have any recs for that and a good tech in the NY Metro area to install it?

-Cheers

Ken put an Aguilar OBP-3 in his L-2500 and seems to like it. The big thing for him was that he didn't have to cut on the body to make it work, so he could take it all back to stock if he wanted to.

On the other hand, I put a Nordstrand 3b in my NotAG&L approximation that has L-series pickups in it, and I do really like it. Not that I take it off of flat all that often, but it's nice to have the flexibility if I ever want it.

As for a tech, I got nothin'. Your best bet would probably be to do a Google search for your general area and include the term, "luthier," and see where that gets you. That's how I found the shop that I've taken my bass to.
