L2500: Mod pictures please w/ pan knob

Postby Raman » Fri Oct 04, 2019 8:44 pm

Hi,

I'm going to convert the A/AB/B pickup switch on my L2500 Tribute to a pan knob or slider.
There's not a ton of room in that area so if you did it and can show me a picture I'd appreciate.

Thanks

Sorry you haven't had a response. Been pretty quiet around here lately.

It is pretty tight in there if the volume pot is full sized. I'm thinking that a mini volume pot (250KA) and a mini blend pot (250K) might just fit. You'd want to get dimensions on both pots along with center to center distance on your current volume control and pickup switch. Once armed with that, calculate to see if it's a fit.

The space is why I thought maybe a pan slider would work. But I've never seen one on a bass.

I have zero knowledge of using a linear pot in a G&L bass. It's nice that they provide a good visual cue to their setting. Of course, you'd need to be careful cutting the slot.

FYI - If you use a rotary blend you'll need to carefully enlarge the hole that's currently occupied by the pickup select switch.
