Decals

Postby jfh4242 » Mon May 27, 2019 1:49 am

Hello all!

I’m thinking about having one of my G&Ls refinished, including the headstock. Do you know if it is possible to get a decal from G&L?

Thx!

They haven't in the past, but you can call and find out.

Failing that, search eBay.

Hm, you are right, they seem to be on Ebay.

Has anyone here after sanded affixed one of these themselves? Is this best left to a professional? Do you need special tools?

The ad doesn't mention this.

Thanks!

Assuming you're looking at waterslide decals, it's pretty simple - just soak the decal in water and it comes off the backing, and while wet, position it where you want it to stick, make sure you get any/all bubbles out, and as the water dries, the decal adheres to the surface that it's on. Most people (myself included) would recommend a layer or two of clear coat over the decal to seal it in and protect it, though it's not required.

Hello everyone.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them. I found the place for the decals. They look very realistic, I guess we will see when they get here.

I have checked out a few YT videos and...lost my confidence. I think I will take it to a professional.

Take care!
