Yeah, I sometimes miss this one for its sonic perfection. Whatta monster....

...but it was trade-in fodder for this one one.

Then there's this one I got from Mal.

There are a few more in here.

Well here's a (unfortunately poor phone) pic of my new 2009 USA L-2000:

Image

As I mentioned on talkbass, it's my first G&L and I picked it up for a fantastic deal just a few weeks ago from a music store in Oklahoma that was selling G&L product on ebay. As you can see (even with the poor pic) it's got a #8 neck and matching headstock which makes the deal I got even more amazing. The body is alder and very light weight, but being alder there is not much interesting wood grain going on, but it does have a rather cool little knot just above the neck pickup.

I've been really impressed with these pickups and the tone and playability I've been getting out of this bass. Having spent most of my 25 years playing Fender and Rickenbackers I'd always wanted to try G&L and wish I'd found them sooner. It's going to take a lot of will power for me to wait a while before getting another (and another....!)

so how do you like your G&L through that Ampeg b-100? i love mine. i appreciate the fact that the little Ampeg takes everything my L-2000 dishes out and doesn't even flinch.

It sounds fantastic through the Ampeg -- mine's a B-200R but I understand the tone is same as the B-100. I've pushed it pretty hard and the notes are full and rich. I'm going to try it this weekend with the band and see how it goes. The amp I'll be using then will be a Markbass LMII through an Ampeg 410HLF which is my favorite cabinet these days.

As much as I've been enjoying my L-2000, I've now started wondering how nice a JB would sound -- perhaps in Fullerton Red?
