Here's a soundclip I did recently with a 2014 G&L L-1000. Alder body / RW board, and I recorded the bass direct through a REDDI tube DI.

I needed to dust off a tune for a gig last weekend, so the first part is some rusty "Hot Lanta" by the Allman Bros. The first pass is series, the second pass is parallel, and the final pass is single coil. Then I added some slap silliness at then end. Just to keep you on your toes, I screwed up the order here: it's series, single coil (very brief), then parallel. The little pops you hear are me changing the switch position, so this was all one take and no gains were normalized. Series is louder, and parallel and single coil are more quiet.

I re-discovered this one by Greg at Rocket Music in 2011.
L-2000, 3 PU positions, 3 wirings : series, parallel, single coil (K-switch), with guitar and soloed.
