I was looking for a project bass, when I found this USACG p/j bass with G&L electronics on TB. The bass is very lite weight and comfortable to play, but really lacks what my G&L basses have; low end. The bass has an L2000 1.3 preamp and M2000 pickup mounted in the SR4/Kiloton sweetspot. I've read several articles (some from here) on ways to increase the low end by adding a .001uf cap to the center lug of the bass control pot. Upon inspecting the control cavity, I found a 102J cap (.001uf?) and a .0022uf/222j cap sharing the same center lug on the bass control. Is this all that can be done to increase the low end? Would it be beneficial to swap out the M2000 pup for an L2000 pup? To be honest, I could do with out the pre and go all passive with this bass. Would an L1000 circuit be a better option and give this bass more girth?
Thank you in advance!
