I *LOVE* this....”Competition Wunkay”

OMG!!! Mode, that is. This is the forum for a true G&L monster, the L-1000. Simple, passive, and huge, the Wunkay speaks volumes for the G&L sound.

Wunkay Wuvers is hosted by Dukeplaysbass, a Los Angeles pro player and L-1000 expert.

CLF Research just posted this pic on their Facebook page not more than 3 hrs ago...
Those look an awful lot like a “competition” Wunkay.
Anybody got any insight???

I believe those are actually going to be their new shortscale Fallout Bass.

Yep. This is the new Fallout bass, soon to be introduced.

Short scale with a single MFD, wired the same way as the Kiloton circuit - parallel, single coil and series (straight series, no OMG cap) with a single traditional tone control. Initial run appears to be these two colours plus at least one other (I've been asked not to share what it is yet though).

I've heard an audio/video demo of it and it sounds fantastic!

Just a quick clarification to the above. I picked up one of these a few months back and the switching options are indeed the same as the L-1000, including the revered OMG mode.

The big difference is the lack of separate bass/treble controls. So think shortscale Wunkay but with the OG P bass tone knob.

I love mine. Yeah, I know, no pic, no bass:

I tried one at NAMM (remember when we could go hang out in a big indoor expo center with thousands of musicians and geek out on gear?)
It looks cool but the short scale makes it a no-go for me. Plus, it looks like a ukulele on me...
