Wunkay Pix!

OMG!!! Mode, that is. This is the forum for a true G&L monster, the L-1000. Simple, passive, and huge, the Wunkay speaks volumes for the G&L sound.

Wunkay Wuvers is hosted by Dukeplaysbass, a Los Angeles pro player and L-1000 expert.

No sales or advertisements, no matter how well veiled, are permitted - not even a pointer elsewhere.

This is my little odd Wunkay.
According to the serial number a late 1985, but with the 1986 updates.
Must have been the among the first backrouted ones?

Wow, you almost never see these maple bodies, they were not "officially" offered in the catalogs. I have a late '81 that is maple, it's still my favorite bass.
What does your bass weigh, and is the neck a bi-cut?

This is not mine. I just wondered what the general consensus is?
I think it suits the bass very well, but it does pose a quandary..

I don't care for it. A Music Man style guard on a G&L is a poor fit visually.

Not my thing either... and I'd be a little apprehensive that it's hiding something beneath it (i.e. a route for another pickup or something).

That doesn’t work on so many levels—certainly worse than seeing the wood, bad geometry and worse colour. Ouch!
